the July
2008 Board meeting I verbally told the Board of Directors I
would be leaving the agency toward the end of August 2009. At
the August 2008 Board meeting I gave them my resignation in
writing.
I also
indicated to the Board that I thought it was important given the
changes within the funding sources and our industry that it was
important to have a six month transition period. From August
until the end of January 2009 the Board of Directors has been
following a process of determining the leadership of the
agency.
The Board
of Directors of Abilities Services, Inc. is pleased to announce
the appointment of Bob Cook to the position of Executive
Director effective March 1, 2009.
Bob
and I have worked closely through the past 14 plus years and
will continue to do so to assure a smooth transition. We will
gradually make the transition and work our way through it. As
with most things, the transition will not happen overnight, but
will evolve over the coming months.
My
focus over the coming months will be a smooth transition of
leadership, building a new building for our Frankfort operation,
and consolidating our Lafayette operations into the Howarth
center.
Because of the people we serve, the staff, and the communities,
the past 14 years have been fantastic for me and I see nothing
but good for ASI, its consumers, the staff, and the
communities……
